Easterlies trigger scattered rains across multiple regions in PH

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will affect several regions across the Philippines on Thursday due to prevailing easterlies, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the easterlies are bringing rainy conditions to the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte. Residents in these areas are advised to stay vigilant, as moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods or landslides.

In Luzon, the northeast monsoon (amihan) continues to bring light rains to Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, along with isolated light rains across the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the remaining areas of Cagayan Valley.

The rest of the country can expect generally fair weather with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms caused by the easterlies.

Across the archipelago, sea conditions remain calm to moderate, accompanied by light to moderate winds. Additionally, PAGASA confirmed that as of 3:00 AM on Thursday, no active weather disturbances were being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
