A touch of nostalgia: PH unveils postage stamps for ASEAN Summit

The Philippines is introducing a nostalgic touch to its hosting of the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits this November by rolling out official ASEAN postage stamps and postcard mailing services for foreign delegates and visitors.

The newly unveiled stamp features the official Philippine ASEAN chairship logo and was presented alongside new tourism postcards during a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) in Makati City.

Through this joint initiative, PHLPost will set up dedicated postal service stations at both the ASEAN International Media Center and the World Trade Center. Delegates will be able to write and send postcard greetings bearing official Philippine stamps directly to recipients worldwide.

Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay highlighted the cultural significance of the project, noting that the initiative aims to bring the country closer to the global audience. "These postcards and stamps will serve as our invitation to the world. Through them, we hope to share not only the beauty of our destinations but also the stories, traditions, and cultural identity that make the Philippines truly loved by many," Angara-Mathay stated.

PHLPost CEO and Postmaster General Maximo Sta. Maria III emphasized that the program offers a chance to spotlight the lasting value of traditional mail in a digital age. "These may seem like simple gestures, but postcards and stamps carry something meaningful. They tell stories that capture experiences and create connections between people, places, and cultures," Sta. Maria said, adding that it provides international guests with a tangible keepsake of their time in the country.

The Philippines will host the ASEAN Leaders’ Summit from November 15 to 17.
