This notice sets out the Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) Policy of Paraluman News and its website, https://www.myparaluman.ph/ (the “Site”).
 

Technology continues to evolve. To deliver timely, accessible, and high-quality journalism in the digital age, Paraluman News explores tools—including AI—that can support storytelling and improve how news is produced and shared. Regardless of the technology used, our core values remain the same: accuracy, fairness, balance, and public service.

Paraluman News Publication, Inc. and its subsidiaries (referred to as “Paraluman News,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) own and operate the Site, which serves as the official news website of Paraluman News Publication, Inc. under the www.myparaluman.ph portal.
 

“Users” (or “you”) refers to anyone who visits, reads, watches, and engages with content published on Paraluman News, including content created with AI assistance or generated using AI tools.

Before any AI tool is introduced into our workflow, it must undergo due diligence, a technical review, and approval by a designated authority. AI tools will be evaluated carefully before they are used in any part of the news production process.

Any AI tool we adopt must:

• Provide clear value and improve efficiency or quality of work

• Protect data privacy and sensitive information

• Respect intellectual property and authors’ rights

• Meet our standards for ethics, fairness, and accountability

 

AI may be used to support specific tasks, particularly repetitive or time-intensive work such as transcription, translation, and summarization. These outputs serve as assistance to our reporters, producers, and editors—not as substitutes for editorial judgment.

We may also use tools such as text-to-speech, text-to-image, and text-to-video to help scale multimedia production and improve audience experience, allowing our journalists and producers to focus more time on deeper reporting and storytelling.

AI is a tool—not a replacement for people. We will not use AI to avoid critical thinking, introduce bias, reduce meaningful discourse, or contribute to the spread of misinformation or disinformation.

When AI is used to produce or materially assist published content, we will clearly disclose this (for example: “Produced by AI” or “With the assistance of AI”) on the relevant webpage, image, video still, or other multimedia format.

Where applicable, we will also disclose:

• Which parts of the content were produced or assisted by AI, and

• The AI tool(s) used

 

Human editorial judgment remains final. All AI-assisted or AI-generated content will be reviewed, edited, and approved by our newsroom team from production through publication. When human editing has been applied to AI-produced material, we will be transparent about that process. We will ensure the final output is clear, coherent, accurate, and consistent with our editorial standards.

Where feasible, we will deploy safeguards that help flag or filter harmful or unreliable outputs (“bad data”), including profanity, hate speech, and mis/disinformation.

We welcome feedback from Users, readers, the academic community, and other stakeholders to help us improve how we use AI responsibly. This helps ensure that our AI development and deployment remain aligned with our mission of public service as the News Authority of the Filipino.
 

We also commit to ongoing learning and training. Paraluman News will work with employees and talents to build skills and adapt to new technologies and the challenges that may come with them.

This policy may be updated from time to time as technology, standards, and best practices evolve. We are committed to exploring AI’s potential while minimizing risks and preventing harm.
