Rio welcomes back Fashion Week after more than a decade

Fashion Week returned to Rio de Janeiro after more than a decade, with its first public shows taking place on Wednesday (April 15) showcasing Brazilian artistry and creativity on the runway.

Brazilian brand Aluf opened the second day of the event with a collection inspired by the different rhythms of time and their influence on women's lives.

The Amazonian-born brand Normando, founded by stylist Marco Normando and visual artist Emidio Contente, both from the northern state of Para, presented a still-life-inspired collection featuring both female and male models, according to Brazilian media.

The event aims to establish itself as a new international fixture on Brazil's fashion calendar, alongside Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

According to Rio's city hall, it has the potential to generate around 100 million reais (USD 20.02 million) and attract about 30,000 visitors.
