The tigers in Copenhagen Zoo received a post-Halloween treat on Tuesday (November 3) when they were given a giant, carved pumpkin from the Tivoli Amusement park to play with.
The pumpkin, which had been carved into a skull, was lifted by fork-lift truck into the four Amur tigers’ enclosure.
The two cubs of a little more than a year old played with the pumpkin, batting at it with their paws, pouncing on it and sinking their teeth into it.
“They've never seen a pumpkin before in any size. So I think this was a kind of experience for them to have,” zookeeper Zaco Sonne said.
Tivoli’s giant pumpkins from their Halloween display have been donated to the zoo for several years now, with previous batches being enjoyed by the park’s elephants and hippos although this was the first time the tigers had been able to enjoy one.
