Artist in Macedonia makes eco-friendly art from truck tarpaulins

One man's trash is another man's treasure - North Macedonian artist Ammar Kachar follows this principle by transforming discarded materials into new and original works.

His latest pieces, displayed in Skopje, were born of a spontaneous idea, the artist told Reuters on Tuesday (June 16).

"There was a truck tarpaulin someone wanted to throw away, but it looked artistic, and I thought: why throw it away when it can be reused and given a second life?" he explained.

Some of the bright yellow tarpaulins have paintings of clouds on them, others have been turned into bags and other fashion accessories. 

Kachar is a contemporary Macedonian visual artist from Skopje, known for his strong focus on recycling and sustainability. His art is meant to promote environmental awareness and the importance of reuse. His work blends art, design and ecological responsibility.
