US military says it has completed its latest wave of strikes on Iran

WASHINGTON — The U.S. military said its forces completed the latest wave of strikes on Iran late Monday, following a mission ordered by President Donald Trump and carried out by the U.S. Central Command.

During the five-hour operation, U.S. forces struck military targets across Iran, including locations in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa and Bandar Abbas, Central Command said in a statement posted on X.

The strikes marked the third consecutive night of U.S. attacks on Iran as Trump announced the reinstatement of a blockade on Iranian shipping and proposed imposing a 20% fee to protect traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s top joint military command said the United States had no authority to determine the future of the strategic waterway and would not be allowed to intervene. Iran announced over the weekend that it was closing the vital shipping route.

The conflict began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched attacks against Iran. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and Gulf states hosting U.S. military bases.

The ongoing war has resulted in thousands of deaths and displaced millions of people due to U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and Israeli attacks on Lebanon. It has also pushed oil prices higher and created uncertainty across global markets.
