The stepdaughter of Ateneo de Manila University basketball coach Tab Baldwin has shared on social media her account of the difficulties her mother allegedly endured after speaking out against him.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Giota Kalogirou supported the statements of a woman named Efi, who identified herself as Baldwin’s estranged wife, about her repeated efforts to alert Ateneo regarding the coach.
"My mom BEGGED them to assign him into a different team - a team with adults, away from the University, away from minors and they not only ignored her but made her life living hell for months," her post read.
Kalogirou is one of Efi’s four children from a previous relationship.
Tudor Clee, who posted the video of Efi, also said Efi and Baldwin did not have children together.
In a video message, Efi said she has been married to Baldwin since 2011 but chose to "flee away" from him in early 2020 for her safety and the safety of their children.
Efi said she had repeatedly tried to tell Ateneo that "children are not safe around him and it was their duty to remove him."
"I urged them to move him away from the campus, the university campus, and they proceeded to launch a campaign of intimidation and silencing," she added, without directly identifying who was allegedly behind the campaign.
She also voiced disappointment over Baldwin’s message on Friday evening to the parents of Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili, two of his basketball players who drowned during a team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora, on June 8.
