MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked the driver's license of a motorcycle rider for two years after he was declared an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle over a viral indecent exposure incident.
In a news release on Friday, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said the rider had been issued a show cause order (SCO).
"Ang pampublikong kalsada ay hindi kailanman lugar para pairalin ang kabastusan at kawalan ng respeto sa ibang tao. May mga batas at alituntuning ipinapatupad ang LTO na dapat sundin at hindi balewalain (The public road is not a place for indecency and disrespect toward others. The LTO enforces laws and regulations that must be followed and not ignored)," he said.
In a viral post and video, a woman said a man on a motorcycle allegedly exposed his private parts while she was walking. Reports also surfaced of another similar incident involving the same rider.
During the hearing, the rider personally appeared and confirmed he was the person in the viral video.
He also admitted the incident happened twice but explained that a different motorcycle was used on those occasions, not the unit covered by the LTO investigation.
The motorcycle covered by the investigation remains under alarm status.
"Kung ang isang kilos ay nagdudulot ng pagkatakot at pangamba sa ibang tao, hindi natin palalampasin ang ganitong uri ng kabastusan. Nararapat lamang na bawiin ang lisensya niya (If an act causes fear and alarm to others, we will not let this kind of indecency pass. It is only proper that his license be revoked)," Lacanilao added.
