MANILA – The National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Parañaque City clarified that there was no shooting incident inside the church on Sunday.
In a social media post Sunday evening, Rector Fr. Rico John Bilangel reported that the incident on the afternoon of Aug. 30, involving an intoxicated man carrying a firearm, caused alarm.
“It is important to clarify that no shooting took place during the incident. Our security personnel and the authorities responded promptly, and the individual involved is now in police custody,” the church official said.
He also reported that two individuals sustained minor injuries during the incident and have already received first aid.
Bilangel urged the public to be very cautious and ensure that what they share or post on social media is verified information so as not to cause confusion and panic.
“We continue to prioritize the safety and security of all devotees and churchgoers,” he added. (PNA)
