The Commission on Elections (Comelec) warned the public against a manipulated infographic circulating on social media claiming there will be a “Special Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE)” on Nov. 28.

“This Facebook post by a person named Rosas Marlon Vlogs is fake news claiming that there will be a Special Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on November 28, 2026,” Comelec said in a social media post Friday.

“This infographic was manipulated to make it appear that the Calendar of Activities for the Special Elections in the Lone Legislative District of the Province of Batanes is for the BSKE.”

The poll body clarified that a special election will be held on Nov. 28 for the lone congressional district of Batanes, to replace the the late Ciriaco Gato Jr.

“There will be no Barangay and Youth Council elections in the Province of Batanes and the entire nation on November 28, 2026,” it added.

The 66-year-old Gato died of heart attack on Sept 21. He was on his third and last term.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed into law Republic Act 12326 on Sept. 24, postponing the BSKE originally set for Nov. 2 this year to November 2028.

The law also fixed the term of office of village and youth officials at five years.
