Moderate to heavy rains continue to drench Luzon, Visayas

MANILA – The southwest monsoon or “habagat” and a low pressure area (LPA) northeast of Batanes will continue to drench Luzon and the Visayas, the weather bureau said Saturday.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was located 520 km. north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

Monsoon rains will prevail over Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga due to the habagat.

PAGASA warned residents in these areas of flash floods or landslides that may occur during heavy to intense rains.

The southwest monsoon will also bring occasional rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro.

The rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Negros Island Region will experience scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms will bring isolated rain showers and thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas while the rest of the archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters. (PNA)
