BRUSSELS - A planned re-enactment this weekend of the 1815 Battle of Waterloo - which resulted in the defeat and exile of French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte - has been cancelled as a result of the heatwave, said the organisers and the local administration.
The re-enactment of the final defeat of Bonaparte's armies against a British-led European coalition on June 18, 1815, draws thousands of people to the fields outside the Brussels suburb each year in June.
