Zsa Zsa Padilla returns Aliw Awards trophy: 'Shocked, deeply disappointed'

Singer and actress Zsa Zsa Padilla said on Tuesday, December 16, that she will return her Aliw Awards trophy after" what happened during the awarding left me shocked and deeply disappointed." Padilla and the other awardees did not deliver acceptance speeches during the awards ceremony.

 On her Instagram post on zsazsapadilla, the veteran singer lamented, "We (Lifetime Achievement Awards recepients) were handed our awards and waited for a while, assuming we would be given the opportunity to say a few words. Instead, a production staff member eventually signaled for us to step down. I turned to Lani and said, 'Wala ba man lang tayong speech?!' Still, we respectfully went down together."

Aside from Padilla, the other Lifetime Achievement Awards recepients were  pop singers Lani Misalucha,  Gary Valenciano, and Jed Madela; classical singer Frankie Asinero, and singer-songwriter Arturo Luis Pio.

Aliw Awards foundation president and founder Alice Reyes  issued an apology shared by ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe. "It is unfortunate that Zsa Zsa took her not being able to speak at the Aliw awards night as an affront to her, and I apologize to her on behalf of the foundation and the production staff."
