Winners and stars light up red carpet of Cannes festival's closing night

Directors and actors of the winning films at the Cannes Film Festival walked the red carpet for the last time, as the 79th edition drew to a close on Saturday evening (May 23).

Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu arrived with his leads for “Fjord”, Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan.

Penelope Cruz arrived with “The Black Ball” (“La Bola Negra”) directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi – who tied for best director with Pawel Pawlikowski, who made “Fatherland”.

Best Actress winners Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto were with “All of a Sudden” (“Soudain”) director Ryusuke Hamaguchi.

Best Actor winners – Belgian rookies Emmanuel Macchia and Valentin Campagne, who played gay lovers in the trenches of World War I in “Coward” – walked the carpet with director Lukas Dhont.

Also present were French director Emmanuel Marre, who won for his screenplay for “Man of His Time” (“Notre Salut”), and German filmmaker Valeska Grisebach, who won the Jury Prize for "The Dreamed Adventure” (“Das Getraumte Abenteuer”).

The jury, led by filmmaker Park Chan-Wook, and included actors Demi Moore, Stellan Skarsgard and Ruth Negga, had their final pose before announcing the top prizes.

Geena Davis, Zoe Saldana and Tilda Swinton were presenters at the closing ceremony.
