SEVENTEEN remains a 13-member group after contract renewal

SEVENTEEN's future as a complete 13-member group is secure after all members agreed to renew their contracts with Pledis Entertainment. The agency announced the news on Monday, July 13, through the global fandom platform Weverse.

This marks the K-Pop group's second contract renewal after they first extended their original contracts in 2021.

Pledis confirmed that all members—S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Dino, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Mingyu—have committed to continuing their journey with the company. The renewal process has already been completed for members who are not currently serving in the military, while those on active duty will finalize their paperwork in accordance with their military service conditions.

The agency stated, "We are delighted to once again announce our continued journey with all thirteen members. The contract renewal process has been completed for all members with the exception of those currently carrying out their military service."

The agency praised SEVENTEEN's growth since its 2015 debut, highlighting the group's self-producing approach, record-breaking achievements, and influence on junior artists. 

Pledis highlighted SEVENTEEN's strong teamwork, fearless approach to new challenges, and influence on younger artists. "SEVENTEEN does not promise 'eternity' lightly. Rather, the artists show their dedication to it every day through their passion and hard work. It is an honor to be able to start another new chapter together," Pledis said.

The agency also thanked the members for their continued trust and expressed gratitude to CARATs for their unwavering support. Pledis said it remains committed to supporting SEVENTEEN's group, unit, and individual activities while helping each member further showcase their individuality and abilities.

“We are dedicated to our role as a reliable partner and collaborator, and will be working to ensure that each member can further showcase their individuality and capabilities, and that the group's positive energy can reach an even wider global audience.”

The company also expressed its anticipation for the day all members complete their mandatory military service and reunite as a full 13-member group, adding that it will continue preparing for the successful resumption of the group's activities.

“We ask for your continued interest and support for SEVENTEEN as they continue their journey toward eternity. Thank you," the announcement  concluded.

Members currently serving are Wonwoo, Woozi, and Hoshi. Jeonghan successfully completed his mandatory military service and was discharged last month, while Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino are expected to begin their service in the coming months.

Following the group's 10th “Carat Land” fan meeting at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, SEVENTEEN's full-group promotions will temporarily slow down as more members enlist, according to The Korea Herald. However, the group has assured fans that they plan to return with a complete 13-member comeback in about two to three years, once all members have completed their mandatory military service.

In the meantime, fans can continue watching new seasons of SEVENTEEN's long-running variety series, “Going Seventeen.” The latest episode from Season 10 Episode 150, titled "Digging Clams and Making Bets #1," premiered on July 8.
