Sandara Park remembers Mindanao, expresses concern over earthquake aftermath

Korean singer and actress Sandara Park expressed deep concern and offered prayers for Mindanao after the strong earthquake that struck the region, sharing a message of comfort for those affected.
The 2NE1 member posted on X about the earthquake that struck off the coast of Sarangani on Monday morning, June 8. “My heart is with everyone affected by the earthquake in Mindanao. Mindanao holds a special place in my heart, and I still remember the love and warmth I received there. I’m praying for everyone’s safety, strength, and recovery,” she wrote. She also shared the same message on her Instagram Stories.
Filipino netizens thanked Sandara, while others reassured her that they were safe.
According to the DOST-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck waters off Sarangani at 7:37 a.m. on June 8, at a depth of 33 kilometers. The quake triggered tsunami warnings and led to evacuations in several coastal provinces.
Other Filipino celebrities also shared messages of support and prayers. The comedian actress Melai Cantiveros-Francisco posted on Instagram.
““In Jesus Name tanggalin nyu na Lord ang mga aftershocks and sana Lord makabangon ang Mindanao labi na ang Gensan Lord sa paglindol na ito.” She also expressed gratitude that her family was safe and extended prayers for other families affected by the quake.
Meanwhile, actress and television host Anne Curtis shared a message of solidarity, saying she is praying for those affected. She also reposted photos and updates about the earthquake to help raise awareness and highlight the need for assistance in the affected areas.
PHIVOLCS reported aftershocks have continued following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao on Monday. A magnitude 5.2 tremor was also felt in parts of Sarangani and General Santos City, with instrumental reports indicating Intensity III shaking in both areas.
