Maxene Magalona openly expressed her love for Kanye West’s music after attending the American rapper’s "Ye Live" concert in Jakarta, Indonesia. Maxene also shared glimpses of the show and explained why his music continues to resonate with her.
“Finally got to see one of the greatest artists of our time in Jakarta,” she wrote in one post. Maxene also wore a headband bearing the words “I ❤️Kanye” alongside the rapper’s face.
In another post, the actress shared more snapshots from the event, including photos with her boyfriend, DJ and videographer Geoff Gonzales, who joined her at the show.
“Running away from toxic energy,” Maxene began her caption, “If you're a fan of @ye, you're actually a fan of yourself. His music teaches you to believe in yourself. He is here to do things differently, challenge your limiting beliefs and inspire you to evolve."
Maxene acknowledged that West, like everyone else, is not perfect, but said she could feel his sincerity and willingness to learn and grow.
“Who am I to judge him when I also make mistakes?” she added.
She was also thankful for the rapper’s musical contributions, praising his sound, creativity, and originality.
“Plus, he created some of the best music of our time. I will forever be grateful for his sound, creativity and originality. He is not here to please any of us. He is here to show us what it means to be fearlessly authentic,” she continued.
Maxene also had a message for those who dislike the rapper, pointing them to the final slide of her post, which featured a screenshot of West’s statement: “I understand that you don't like me but I need you to understand that I don't care.”
The 39-year-old also shared additional videos from the Jakarta show, capturing herself singing along to West’s songs and enjoying the performance.
Interestingly, this was not Maxene’s first time seeing West perform live. In a reply to a comment on her post, she revealed that she had also attended his concert in 2016, noting that it was a different experience seeing West perform in his own show and production.
As the daughter of the late Francis Magalona, one of the Philippines’ most celebrated rappers, she has openly expressed her admiration for West’s work, highlighting how his music inspires self-belief, authenticity, and personal growth.
“I don't care if you don't like @ye but this concert healed so many of us who resonate with his authentic frequency. Please don't yuck our yum and let us have this,” she added.
“Thank you @ye and @rawvision.collective for this breathtaking display of artistic genius. We will never forget this experience,” she concluded.
