Katy Perry's ex-husband Russell Brand arrives at London court as defense case expected to begin

British actor and comedian Russell Brand arrived at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday (October 28) ahead of giving evidence in his trial over alleged historical crimes including rape and other sexual offences.

Brand, once a regular figure on British television and star of a number of Hollywood movies, is on trial accused of three counts of rape, three of sexual assault and an attempted indecent assault involving six women between 1999 and 2009.

The 51-year-old former husband of US singer Katy Perry denies all the allegations.

Arriving at court, Brand was asked by a reporter if he had anything to say, to which he replied: "Due to the circumstances of the day, I think it would be inappropriate for me to say anything other than I am very grateful that today's a day for truth and justice and we are blessed that as yet we have a system that can accommodate such things."
