Katy Perry has officially entered her “hard launch” era with Justin Trudeau. The pop star dropped a cozy selfie of the two smiling cheek-to-cheek, plus a video of them casually eating sushi together during a trip to Japan — and the internet immediately got the message.

The post all but confirmed what fans have been side-eyeing for months: Katy and the former Canadian prime minister are a thing.

The pics were part of a photo dump from Japan that Katy shared on Saturday with her massive 202 million followers. One snap in particular had people talking — the pair holding hands — which pretty much sealed the deal.

The timing wasn’t random either. Just days earlier, Trudeau reposted a photo on X of himself and Katy hanging out with Japan’s former PM Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko. In the caption, he mentioned that “Katy and I” were happy to spend time with them — subtle, but noted.

Even though neither of them has sat down to spell it out, their relationship has been playing out in public for a while now. Back in July, they were spotted on a dinner date in Montreal. Two days later, Trudeau was seen fully vibing and singing along to Firework at Katy’s concert.

Their first real public moment came in October, when photographers caught them holding hands after a cabaret show in Paris — a night out that also doubled as a birthday celebration for Katy’s 41st.
