'Jurassic legend': cinema world pays tribute to actor Sam Neill

Actors, directors and musicians took to social media on Monday (July 13) to mourn the death of "Jurassic Park" star Sam Neill at the age of 78.

A post shared on social media by his family said Neill's death in Sydney "was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer free."

Actor Richard E. Grant described Neill as a "Gentleman in the truest sense" on Instagram, while singer Kylie Minogue commented "Vale Sam" underneath the family’s post.

Neill, whose career included more than 50 movies, is best known for playing paleontologist Dr Alan Grant in dinosaur blockbuster "Jurassic Park".

Colin Trevorrow, who directed "Jurassic World Dominion", wrote in an Instagram post, "it’s not every lifetime you get to befriend a legend. Forever grateful."
