The Senate of the Philippines has formally recognized the P-pop group BINI for making music history when they became the first Filipino group to perform at Coachella, one of the biggest music festivals in the world.

BINI  attended the Senate session where the body adopted Senate Resolution No. 370, which honored BINI for bringing pride to the country through their performances at Coachella on April 10 and 17 in Indio, California.  The resolution was filed by Senator Bam Aquino on April 16.

During his sponsorship speech, Aquino said the achievement is a “salamin” of Filipino talent and excellence on the global stage. He also highlighted how the group proudly incorporated Filipino identity and “Pantropiko” elements into their performances through their music, choreography, outfits, and by introducing themselves in native Philippine dialects.

Aquino emphasized that BINI’s achievement serves as an inspiration for young Filipinos to dream bigger and believe they can also reach the world stage.

He added, “Ang tagumpay na ito ay hindi lamang panalo para sa industriya ng musika, kung hindi para sa buong Pilipinas,” highlighting the country’s growing potential in the creative economy.

Aquino ended his speech by saying, “Kaya naman, Mr. President, huwag muna tayong umuwi hangga’t hindi nating naipapasa ang resolusyong ito bilang pagkilala sa pambihirang tagumpay ng BINI,” referencing the group’s song “Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi.” He then congratulated the members individually—Maloi, Mikha, Sheena, Jhoanna, Gwen, Stacey, Aiah, and Colet.

Aquino personally handed the parchment copy of Senate Resolution No. 370 to the members of BINI during their visit. He also shared that the resolution was unanimously approved by the Senate.

BINI and Aquino were also joined by Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi and ABS-CBN Music head Roxy Liquigan. In his social media posts, Aquino shared photos with the “Nation’s Girl Group,” saying it was enjoyable catching up with them as they went “from PH stages to Coachella, and now to the Senate.”

He also posted a video with the members and wrote, “POV: Na-meet mo ang BINI,” alongside the caption, “My Cherry On Top moment today!” — referencing a track from the group’s EP "Biniverse."
