Filipino cosplay icon Alodia Gosiengfiao joins Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano on stage at TOYCON 2026

Cosplayer and gamer Alodia Gosiengfiao shared a moment onstage with legendary Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano at the TOYCON NEXUS x Poplife Festival 2026  at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City last Saturday, June 13.

TOYCON shared photos of Alodia’s appearance with the “Final Fantasy" artist during a panel discussion on its official social media accounts, along with snaps with the audience. 

Alodia later reflected on the moment and expressed her joy, describing it as a “full circle” experience as she looked back the last time they met in Japan in 2016 and in the Philippines in 2026.

“So happy he remembers me. He said he met me when I was 17. Thank you for the kind words Sir, that means I’m 27ish. But thank you for gracing TOYCON PHILIPPINES! Hope we see you here in the PH more often.” 

The photos Alodia shared included both past meetings and their recent reunion, highlighting her long-standing presence in the cosplay and pop culture scene.

During the same event, she was honored with the Cosplay Hall of Fame TanderCon Award, alongside other cosplayers recognized for their contributions to the community.

Dubbed as “Cosplay Queen of the Philippines,” Alodia is one of the Philippines’ most recognized cosplay figures and online personalities, known for helping popularize cosplay in the country through her detailed costumes, gaming content, and strong presence in pop culture events both locally and internationally.

Actress Bianca Umali was also present at the event, joining the “Ella Arcangel” panel alongside creator Julius Villanueva, and others nvolved in the production of the upcoming animated fantasy-horror film “Ella Arcangel: Awit ng Pangil at Kuko,” where Umali will voice the title character.

Meanwhile, the Nation’s Girl Group BINI received the Pinoy Pop Culture Award, recognizing their role in bringing Filipino pop culture to the global stage. Although not physically present, the group appeared on screen to accept the award and express their gratitude. 

The three-day festival, held from June 12 to 14, also featured a meet-and-greet with Japanese actress Reiko Chiba on the final day.

Recognized as one of the Philippines’ biggest pop-culture gatherings, the event brought together fans, creators, and prominent figures from across the entertainment and gaming industries.
