Stand-up comedian and TV host Ate Gay has been confined in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Asian Hospital for almost a week. His family has appealed for financial assistance as his hospital bills have reportedly exceeded ₱2 million.
Ate Gay, whose real name is Gil Aducal Morales, was diagnosed with stage 4 mucoepidermoid cancer in 2025 and has been battling the disease since then.
The comedian has also been keeping fans updated on his health through social media. In June, he shared that an MRI scan showed no more lumps in his neck and nose.
On Tuesday, October 27, the Morales family shared a heartfelt message on Ate Gay’s Facebook page, asking for financial help to cover his ongoing medical expenses.
They also shared bank details and donation channels where supporters could send contributions to help cover his treatment.
“During this difficult time, our family is humbly reaching out to your kind hearts for any financial assistance to help support his ongoing medical needs. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has already extended their kindness and generosity.
"No amount is too small. Every contribution, prayer, and share means so much to our family." The family also asked the public for prayers as they continue to be hopeful for Ate Gay’s recovery.
Before his ICU confinement, Ate Gay was able to perform in two comedy shows with fellow comedians on October 17 and 18, according to a separate Facebook post.
His latest hospitalization came less than two weeks after the “living funeral” held for him on October 15 in Biñan, Laguna, amid his ongoing battle with cancer.
