After years of trying and failing to conceive, Alex Gonzaga and her husband Lipa City Vice Mayor Mikee Morada are finally expecting their first child.
The couple shared the good news on May 21 through a social media post, with Alex, 38, revealing that she is pregnant after years of trying to conceive and experiencing multiple miscarriages.
In her post, Alex reflected on their emotional journey to parenthood.
“After almost 6 years of marriage and 3 heartbreaking losses, we never lost faith and continued to surrender everything to the Lord. While preparing for IVF, the Lord Jesus blessed us with a natural pregnancy.
“We want to thank everyone who prayed with us, hoped with us, and supported us through this journey to becoming parents. By God’s grace, our prayers have been answered, and we are finally going to be mommy and daddy.”
The actress and content creator also asked for continued prayers for a safe and healthy pregnancy until their baby arrives.
The announcement video featured clips from the couple’s journey, including Alex being hospitalized following a miscarriage. It also showed the couple releasing a wish lantern at Shifen Old Street in Taiwan, where they prayed for “healthy babies.”
The video ended with scenes of Alex and Mikee, 39, dressed in white as they revealed her growing baby bump and ultrasound images of their baby.
At the beginning of the video, Mikee comforted his wife by saying, “Kahit tayong dalawa lang.”
“Naiiyak ako huwag mo sasabihin yan,” Alex replied emotionally. “Sabi niya kahit kaming dalawa lang daw,” she told the viewers. “Masaya kami,” Morada added.
The moment has taken on new meaning now that the couple is expecting their first child, marking a shift from when it was just “tayong dalawa lang.”
Gonzaga previously experienced her first miscarriage in 2021, followed by another pregnancy loss in 2023, with Morada later revealing a third loss in late 2024 due to a blighted ovum, a condition where a fertilized egg forms in the uterus but does not develop into an embryo.
In a separate post, Gonzaga proudly showed her baby bump through a series of photos with her and husband smiling, holding her tummy, and sharing a kiss. “From now on, it’s me and you with our own little one. Thank you Jesus,” she wrote in the caption.
Gonzaga and Morada began dating in 2016 and got married in 2020 in an intimate ceremony after four years together.
