A full-circle moment: John Prats, Heart Evangelista reunite onscreen

The reunion of former reel and real partners John Prats and Heart Evangelista became one the highlights of TJ Monterde’s latest music video, “Teka Lang.” John directed the video himself alongside filmmaker Irene Villamor. 

The MV follows a nostalgic storyline about childhood sweethearts who unexpectedly reconnect as adults while riding the same bus.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, June 7, John,42, expressed his gratitude to Heart, 41, saying, “Thank you Gummy @iamhearte, for saying yes to this project. Sa totoo lang, hindi ko inakala na after so many years, makikita pa tayo ulit sa screen together. 

"Hanggang ngayon parang surreal pa rin isipin. Salamat sa tiwala at sa pagpayag na maging part ng project na ito. Ang daming memories ang bumalik, pero mas masaya na nakagawa tayo ng bago para sa mga taong sumubaybay sa atin noon. "

The director and actor ended his message with gratitude, calling it a “full circle moment” and using the hashtag “#JoHeart,” with behind-the-scenes photos and videos showing the two looking close, interacting warmly, and sharing laughter on set.

Fans and viewers quickly reacted online, with many expressing excitement and hoping for more projects for the pair. “Direkkkk...hindi pwedeng hanggang MV lang. May utang pa kayong movie at series,” one fan commented. 

“Grabe naman yung pa gummy direk @johnprats, parang napasakay ako sa time machine ah. Gawa na ulit kayo ng movie, please say yes na po madam @iamhearte,” another user wrote.

The eight-minute music video, released on June 3, shows a layered storyline. It starts with young versions of the characters, played by actor Jairo Nolasco and “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab 2.0” Big Winner Caprice Cayetano, who meet during a summer camping trip. Years later, as adults, now played by John and Heart, unexpectedly cross paths again on a bus. Even though they sit apart, they recognize each other and become emotional.

Although John and Heart’s screen time was brief, it still made a strong impact on fans, who felt that their pairing captured the emotions of first love, while bringing back memories of their "love team" in the early 2000s.
