U.S. private equity firm Carlyle Group CG.O said on Thursday that its deal to buy the international assets of Russia's Lukoil LKOH.MM was conditional on due diligence and regulatory approvals.
Lukoil said it had agreed to sell most of its foreign assets worth a total of around $22 billion to Carlyle pending approval from the U.S. government.
Carlyle said in a statement that its approach to Lukoil would focus on "ensuring operational continuity, preserving jobs, stabilizing the asset base and supporting safe, reliable performance across the portfolio by bringing to bear dedicated oversight and international operating capabilities".
