Mikael Granlund scored twice and John Carlson recorded three assists as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-3 on Tuesday night.
Alex Killorn added a goal and an assist, Leo Carlsson contributed two assists, and goaltender Lukas Dostal made 27 saves for Anaheim (40-27-4, 84 points), extending their point streak to five games (4-0-1). Mason McTavish and Troy Terry also scored for the Ducks, who earned their 24th come-from-behind win, tied for the league lead.
Jake DeBrusk, Brock Boeser, and Drew O’Connor scored for Vancouver (21-41-8, 50 points), with Filip Hronek and Elias Pettersson adding two assists each. Kevin Lankinen made 29 saves as the Canucks suffered their third consecutive loss.
After Anaheim failed to convert an early power play, Vancouver struck on its first man-advantage opportunity. DeBrusk received a pass to the left of Dostal and spun the puck into the far side of the net for a 1-0 lead at 5:45 of the first period.
Anaheim tied the game 1-1 at 5:26 of the second period when Carlson set up Killorn, who fired a backhand into the net. Granlund gave the Ducks a 2-1 lead at 7:50 after knocking in a rebound during a prolonged offensive push. Boeser evened the score 2-2 on Vancouver’s third power play at 13:13.
Granlund struck again at 1:01 of the third period, following up on his own rebound to put Anaheim ahead 3-2. O’Connor tied it 3-3 at 2:22 after a turnover by Ducks rookie Beckett Sennecke.
The game-winning sequence came in the third period when McTavish scored 31 seconds after Lankinen stopped Cutter Gauthier on a breakaway, giving Anaheim a 4-3 lead. Troy Terry sealed the 5-3 victory with an empty-net goal in the final five seconds.
Despite owning the fewest points in the NHL, Vancouver had dominated Anaheim this season, entering with a 12-1-0 record in their past 13 meetings against the Ducks. The Canucks were aiming for a three-game sweep of the Pacific Division leaders.
