A day after reports surfaced about a contract extension, the Chicago Cubs and outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong officially finalized a six-year, $115 million deal, multiple media outlets confirmed Tuesday. The agreement comes just one day before Crow-Armstrong turns 24 on Wednesday.
Crow-Armstrong had a breakout season in 2025. He earned his first All-Star selection, won a Gold Glove, and finished ninth in National League MVP voting.
In his third major league campaign, Crow-Armstrong got off to a hot start, hitting .265/.302/.544 with 25 home runs and 71 RBIs in 95 games before the All-Star break. However, his performance dipped in the second half, batting .216/.262/.372 with six home runs and 24 RBIs in 62 games.
He finished the season with a .247/.287/.481 batting line, 31 home runs, 95 RBIs, 37 doubles, and 35 stolen bases. Crow-Armstrong became the first Cub in franchise history to record 30 or more doubles, home runs, and stolen bases in a single season.
Through 293 major league games, Crow-Armstrong has compiled a .240/.285/.437 batting line with 50 doubles, 10 triples, 41 home runs, 143 RBIs, and 64 stolen bases.
Originally drafted by the New York Mets in the first round (19th overall) of the 2020 MLB Draft, Crow-Armstrong was traded to the Cubs in July 2021 in a deal that sent infielder Javier Báez and right-hander Trevor Williams to New York.
The Cubs open their 2026 season Thursday at home against the Washington Nationals.
