World Cup fans savor classic southern American breakfast in Atlanta

A steady stream of World Cup fans from across the world are getting their first taste of the southern American breakfast - hearty waffles with syrup, smothered potatoes and crispy bacon.

Inside this Waffle House diner near FIFA’s Fan Festival in the host city of Atlanta, motion is constant, with staff calling out orders, plates moving fast, and a line of customers waiting for a table, while a second line forms for the chain’s new soccer merchandise.

“It's been amazing to see the crowds that have been coming by for the World Cup," regional manager at Waffle house, Eric Williams, who joined the chain seven years ago, said.

"It feels like we've just had constant foot traffic, people coming in. And a lot of people hadn't even been here before," Eric added.

Waffle House was established in 1955. Today, the chain operates more than two thousand locations across 25 U.S. states, all open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
