Too hot to work from home, British employees yearn for office amid heatwave

 Hybrid worker, Oliver Horrocks, said he regretted not going into the office on Wednesday (June 24) as working from home proved '"uncomfortable" during the ongoing heatwave.

The 27-year-old Demand Planner at L'Oreal, said coping with the heat had been challenging as Britain’s Met Office extended a red heat alert across a large area through Friday (June 26 )— the first time such warnings have been issued for three consecutive days.

“Sitting in front of the fan, regular showers, having the doors and windows open — doing everything I can to stay cool. But it’s been pretty uncomfortable,” Horrocks told Reuters.

Britain's Meteorological Office said the temperature reached 36.9 degrees Celsius in Suffolk, eastern England, on Friday, provisionally breaking the record for the hottest June day for the third day in a row as the heatwave comes to an end.

The heatwave follows a record-breaking May, when Britain logged its hottest day for the month at 35.1 degrees Celsius
