Tall ships sail past Statue of Liberty for US 250th birthday

Tall ships and naval vessels from around the world sailed through New York Harbor on Saturday (July 4), as the United States marked the 250th anniversary of its independence.

The Sail4th 250 celebration brought ships past some of New York's best-known landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade Center and the Empire State Building.

The event follows earlier major maritime celebrations in New York, including the 1976 Bicentennial and the Statue of Liberty Centennial in 1986.
