New York City’s annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade

With Halloween approaching on Saturday (October 31), New York dogs have already put their best paws forward at the 36th annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade.

Costumed canines and their owners filled the East Village on October 17, marching along Avenue B toward Tompkins Square Park in a celebration of creativity and companionship.

One dog sported a lion’s mane, while another was dressed as horror character Chucky. A canine pope rode in a miniature white convertible, while a black dog peeked out from a dinosaur costume beside a sign warning: “Do not feed the dinosaur.”

Another dog sat inside an oversized basketball decorated with a New York Knicks logo and player Jalen Brunson’s name.

Attendees described the parade as a chance to showcase their creativity, celebrate their pets and bring joy and camaraderie to the city.

The event began in Manhattan’s first dog run and now includes a costume contest and a festival block for participants and spectators.
