Munich’s Oktoberfest celebrated half-time on Sunday (September 27), with organisers saying more than 3.8 million people had visited the world’s largest beer festival so far.
According to the city of Munich, beer consumption declined slightly, though no figures were given.
"Oktoberfest tent operators estimated beer consumption in 2025 at around 6.5 million one-liter (34 U.S. fluid ounces) ‘Mass' servings. The previous year, the figure was about seven million,” the city said.
It also provided the number of “collected,” or stolen “Mass” glass beer mugs which to date amounts to roughly 52,000.
The so called tents, some of which have the size of a warehouse, can accommodate up to 10,000 visitors.
A hotly debated issue each year is the price for a “Mass” of beer which this year costs between 14.80 euros (16.9 USD) and 15.90 euros (18.1 USD), depending on the venue.
Dishes typically served in the tents are roast chickens and German sausages known as Bratwurst.
According to figures released for 2025, 130 oxen and 44 calves were eaten. Vegetarian dishes amounted to 152,569.
This year’s Oktoberfest closes its tents and rides on October 4.
