Tens of thousands of costumed revellers filled the streets of Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong's nightlife district, for Halloween on Saturday (October 31), the climax of a month-long government-backed campaign aimed at attracting tourists and boosting spending.
Shaan Wang, a tourist from Shenzhen in mainland China, dressed up in a dachshund costume with his friends. "Shenzhen has stuff going on too, but this feels like the best place in China to catch the energy," he said. "So we hopped over to take it all in."
As crowds in colourful costumes thronged the narrow streets, spectators scrambled to take photos.
Police implemented special crowd and traffic management measures, enforcing one-way pedestrian flow to keep partygoers moving.
