The monsoon rains had been relentless for days, turning the familiar streets of Hagonoy, Bulacan into murky rivers.
Even the St. John the Baptist Parish Church in Hagonoy had reportedly been under water for about a month.
Gilbert Chico and Liean Liza Chico were set to tie the knot in that church on September 1.
As morning broke on the day of their wedding, the parish church still stood completely inundated, its aisles filled knee-deep floods.
To anyone else, a flooded church might have felt like a disaster, but for the couple, nothing could wash away the joy of their special day.
Holding her heavy bridal gown high above the water, the bride carefully stepped into the flooded aisle.
Beside her, the groom navigated the brown waters in his wedding attire, taking cautious, deliberate steps forward.
Friends, family, and photographers gathered along the pews, wading through the water and pausing along the way to capture unforgettable photographs
Despite the muddy waters and logistical challenges, laughter and warm chatter echoed through the flooded sanctuary.
As the couple reached the altar, they exchanged blessings and heartfelt smiles.
Standing hand in hand in the middle of the flooded church, they proved that no amount of rising water could dampen a love built to weather any storm.
In a wire report, the couple said it may not have been the wedding of their dreams but it was a wedding they would not forget.
