Chihuahuas in Mexico City got into the spirit of Day of the Dead on Sunday (October 25) by dressing up in goulish costumes for the season.
These tiny canines paraded through Chapultepec Park to show off their outfits that included Catrina skeletons, Aztec kings and even Pokemon.
Day of the Dead, observed on Nov. 1 and 2, is one of Mexico's most representative cultural celebrations. It honors deceased relatives and loved ones with altars decorated with marigolds, candles, photographs and offerings.
Gabriela Vargas, who attended with her three Chihuahuas, said they had dressed as Catrinas, a traditional Day of the Dead character. "My girl is a Catrina, me a Catrina," she said.
Ismael Ojeda said he had Aztec costumes made for his dogs. He came up with the idea and gave a costume maker instructions, including for the headdress. The custume took about two weeks to finish them.
