The University of Santo Tomas (UST) was placed on high alert Tuesday (October 27), following a bomb threat directed at the campus.
In an official advisory, UST stated that it immediately coordinated with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and relevant government agencies to investigate and secure the premises. Following recommendations from law enforcement authorities, no evacuation order was issued.
Initial reports from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) indicated that a school staff member received the threat via Facebook Messenger.
After conducting a thorough assessment, police officers and campus security personnel cleared the area and declared the campus safe.
UST assured students, faculty, and personnel that security teams remain on heightened alert to ensure safety across the university. Meanwhile, authorities are continuing their investigation to track down and identify the individual behind the threat. RA Sibag/Paraluman News
