Scattered rains and thunderstorms expected in PH September 22

MANILA – The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will cause rains over some parts of the country on Tuesday, the weather bureau said.

In its 4 am weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA has a medium potential to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.

It was last observed at 1,805 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 2 am.

Scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA's trough are expected across Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Bohol, and Davao Oriental.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides.

The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers caused by the southwest monsoon (habagat) and localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms, PAGASA warned.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail across northern Luzon and the eastern sections of central and southern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
