Super Typhoon Inday expected to enter PH July 7 or 8 but not make landfall

Super Typhoon Bavi (locally named Inday) is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility between Tuesday (July 7, 2026) evening and Wednesday (July 8, 2026) morning.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and all relevant agencies to implement a whole-of-government approach, a report of the Philippine News Agency (PNA) said. The key preemptive measures currently underway include:

•   Risk Assessment: Conducting pre-disaster risk assessments and scenario planning.

•   Evacuations: Implementing preemptive evacuations in high-risk areas and securing evacuation centers.

•   Resource Prepositioning: Placing rescue teams and relief supplies on standby, and establishing livestock and equipment holding areas.

•   Infrastructure and Travel: Inspecting critical infrastructure, enforcing sea travel restrictions, and identifying alternate transport routes.

•   Public Information: Intensifying public warning campaigns across all platforms.

While the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reports a low probability of landfall on the Philippine mainland as the storm moves toward Taiwan and Japan, the system may pass near Batanes and extreme Northern Luzon by the weekend.

Maximum sustained winds are currently recorded at 205 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts up to 250 kph.
