PH military under Red Alert in Metro Manila as EDSA rally continues

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) placed all units in Metro Manila under red alert on Tuesday evening (June 30, 2026) as part of standard procedures while the EDSA rally continued on its second day on Wednesday.

Law enforcement units continue to monitor the ongoing rally by the religious group Iglesia ni Cristo near the EDSA People's Power Monument in Quezon City. according to a report of the Philippine News Agency.

The AFP has stated that this standard measure ensures personnel and assets remain prepared to support civil authorities upon request.

AFP said this level of readiness is maintained "in accordance with the constitution, existing laws, and established procedures."

The AFP added that it continues to coordinate with the Philippine National Police and other government agencies to maintain public safety and security.

"The AFP remains a professional, non-partisan institution committed to upholding the rule of law, respecting human rights, and protecting the rights of all Filipinos while fulfilling its mandate to safeguard the nation," the AFP said.
