'Habagat' to bring rains to Luzon

MANILA – Most of Luzon will still experience rains caused by the southwest monsoon (habagat) affecting the island, the weather bureau said on Wednesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Zambales will experience occasional rains, while scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast across Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, the rest of Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides. The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers due to habagat and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are likely across Luzon and the western section of Visayas.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
