Chinese-Filipino wushu champion Janice Hung has been tapped to join the cast of “Sigabo.” Hung's casting will add another skilled action performer in Coco Martin’s upcoming action-comedy series.

In an Instagram post, Hung, 33, shared her excitement about the project, writing: “Excited and honored to be part of Coco Martin’s Sigabo! I can’t wait for all of you to see what we’ve been working on.”

She also invited viewers to tune in when the series premieres on June 22 at 8 pm. The show was originally scheduled to air on March 16.

Hung joins veteran actors that include Joey Marquez, Joko Diaz, Carmi Martin, and Edu Manzano, alongside lead stars Coco Martin and Julia Montes.

Known as the “Wushu Queen” of the Philippines, Hung earned the moniker after winning 10 national gold medals. She has represented the Philippines in the SEA Games, Asian Games, and World Championships, competing in wushu, a Chinese martial art that combines combat techniques with performance elements and uses weapons such as swords, spears, and cudgels.

Beyond her sports achievements, Hung has also built a steady acting career. She portrayed the goddess Ether in the hit fantasy series “Encantadia” and also appeared in “Mga Lihim ni Urduja,” “Victor Magtanggol” and "The General’s Daughter.”

Her role in "Sigabo" also marks another collaboration with Coco Martin and Julia Montes, as she previously worked with both stars in “Ang Probinsyano.”
