Actor and dancer Wowie De Guzman assured fans that he was safe after reportedly sustaining minor injuries in a car accident in Batangas early Tuesday morning, October 13.

The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. along Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Bartolome, Santo Tomas City, when the car he was driving slammed into concrete barriers in the middle of the highway.

According to Sto. Tomas City police chief Lieutenant Colonel Marlon Cabataña, Wowie reportedly admitted that he had fallen asleep behind the wheel, causing the vehicle to hit the barriers.

Photos taken after the crash showed extensive damage to the front end of the car. Its airbags deployed during the collision, leaving Wowie with only bruises on his thigh, while his two companions were unharmed.

The group was on its way back to Manila after attending an event in Guinayangan, Quezon province. A video shared on Wowie's Facebook page appeared to show him attending the event before the accident.

Following the incident, Wowie, 50, took to Facebook to reassure his followers and friends that he was doing fine and had sustained no serious injuries.

“Fyi guys...relax po. Thankfully ok po ako. Walang serious injury im 100% ok. Kayang kaya na mag warm up mamaya. Kagigising lang now dito sa Pampanga,” he wrote.

The Zumba instructor later posted a video of himself explaining what happened. He also assured everyone that he and his companions were safe.

Magkasama sila ng buong pamilya nila,” he explained.

Wowie also thanked everyone who reached out following the accident.

Thank you, nakaka-touch. Anyway, God bless.”

He also urged the public to exercise caution on the road.

Wala po akong nadisgrasya na tao or human being.

Wag na po kayong mag-alala,” he ended the video.
