Vice Ganda has addressed the comments from some of Kim Chiu’s fans after he failed to mention Kim's name during his FAMAS acceptance speech, with the two "It’s Showtime" hosts later addressing the issue on X.
“It’s Showtime” won Best Variety Show in the TV & Media Category at the inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards ceremony on Monday, July 20, while Vice Ganda received the Best Host for Entertainment award in the same category.
During his acceptance speech, Vice, 50, thanked several of his co-hosts but unintentionally left out Kim’s name. The omission led some of Kim’s fans to express disappointment online, with some speculating that the actress-host had been overlooked or intentionally excluded.
Several fans took to X to share their reactions, with one netizen pointing out that Kim is an important part of “It’s Showtime” as one of its main hosts and questioning why newer hosts were mentioned while her name was left out.
Vice responded by reposting the comment and calling out what he described as the “toxicity” of some fans involved in the backlash.
Another fan defended Kim, writing: “Kim, never let anyone make you feel small or insignificant. You know your worth. Don't let anyone dim that. You deserve so much better than this, better treatment, respect, and recognition.”
Vice reacted to the post by criticizing what he saw as fans’ sense of entitlement.
Another fan accused Vice of “favoritism,” saying Kim is one of the reasons viewers continue to support the show and asked why she was forgotten while other hosts were acknowledged.
Kim, 36, later addressed the fan reactions on X, acknowledging her supporters’ intentions while asking her fans to move on.
“Ayaw ko na sanang palakihin ito. Pero bilang mga taga supporta hindi naman [siguro] ka cheapan ang tawag duon.”
She explained that she believed their reactions came from their love and support for her, adding that their initial response was likely driven by their desire to protect her.
Kim also clarified that she was not tolerating any negative behavior and hoped the matter would not be further escalate.
Vice then addressed his own supporters, reminding them that their admiration should not be used as a reason to attack others.
“To my LITTLE PONIES, it's not enough and acceptable reason that you love me for you to be bad to others. I appreciate your support but I will not enable your toxic behavior just because I seek your support. I love you, my mature and thinking Little Ponies!”
Both hosts also clarified that there was no personal conflict between them. Kim shared a five-second video of herself making a heart hand gesture and wrote: “Let's spread love and love always!”
Vice also reassured netizens on X, writing: “Ay di po kami magkaaway. Magkamessage po kami now. As friends.”
Vice publicly apologized during the airing of their show for forgetting to mention Kim in his FAMAS speech. “Nakalimutan kong banggitin iyong pangalan mo kahapon. Pasensya ka na. 16 po kasi iyong hosts, wala akong prompter kaya nakalimutan ko na iyong iba,” Vice explained.
He also congratulated Kim, saying they both shared the recognition.
