Thai superstar Mario Maurer gave his all-out support  to the upcoming Philippine adaptation of “Pee Mak,” sending a video message to Wilbert Ross and the rest of the cast.

In a recent post, Viva Films shared a video of Maurer, who originally played Mak in the 2013 Thai film, congratulating the 29-year-old actor and singer for taking on the iconic role in the Philippine version and wishing the entire cast well as they bring their own take on the beloved story to Filipino audiences.

“Mabuhay Philippines! I'm Mario Maurer. Thank you for loving our film, Pee Mak. I want to congratulate Wilbert Ross and the whole cast of the Philippine version of Pee Mak. I know you guys will do great,” he said in the video.

The 37-year-old also encouraged Filipino fans to watch the movie when it hits cinemas in October.

“I'm inviting everyone to catch Pee Mak in the Philippine cinemas on October 14. I'm sure you guys are gonna have a great time there. See you! Mahal ko kayo!”

Maurer’s message delighted both his fans and Wilbert’s followers, with many pointing out the resemblance between the two actors. Their similarities have been noted by fans several times, making Wilbert’s casting as Mak particularly noticeable.

Maurer is no stranger to Philippine cinema, having previously starred alongside Filipino actress Erich Gonzales in the 2012 romantic film “Suddenly It’s Magic.”

Viva Films continues to excite fans of the Philippine release even inviting audiences to join the “Pee Mak Barkada” for a movie experience filled with “takutan, tawanan, at kiligan.”

Some fans were especially happy to see the original film’s stars showing their support, with one commenting, “May basbas ng mga OGs. Yes na yes!!”

Maurer is not the only original “Pee Mak” star to show support for the new version. Davika Hoorne, who played Nak opposite Maurer in the original film, also recently shared her reaction to the Philippine adaptation.

In a previous video shared by Viva Films, Davika, 34, watched the official trailer and teaser with her husband, Thai actor Chantavit Dhanasevi. She responded enthusiastically and expressed her affection for the upcoming Filipino remake.

The original “Pee Mak” was a high-grossing Thai supernatural horror-comedy and romance film based on the classic Thai folklore legend of Mae Nak Phra Khanong. The movie reimagines the iconic ghost story as a comedic and heartwarming tale.

For the local adaptation, Wilbert plays Mak, with Bea Binene, 29, taking on the role of Nak. They are joined by Vandolph Quizon, Jairus Aquino, TJ Valderrama, and Gian Bernardino, who form the film’s comedic barkada that adds another layer of humor to the story.

Directed by Victor Villanueva, “Pee Mak” will premiere in cinemas nationwide on October 14.
