Steven Spielberg returns to telling "prehistoric stories" with "The Dinosaurs," a documentary miniseries that debuted with a perfect critic score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Released on March 6, the series follows the evolution and extinction of dinosaurs—from their earliest ancestors in the Triassic period, around 235 million years ago, to the asteroid impact that ended the Cretaceous period 66 million years ago.

Spielberg was the producer of the 1993 fiction film "Jurassic Park" about genetic scientists who built a wildlife park with "de-extinct dinosaurs."

Meanwhile, "The Dinosaurs" is narrated by American actor and film producer Morgan Freeman.

The nature and historical documentary was created in collaboration with Amblin Entertainment and Silverback Films and consulted 50 scientific advisors to ensure accuracy in portraying dinosaurs’ appearance, behavior, and habitats.

CGI was used to reconstruct prehistoric life and illustrate major environmental events.

The series runs four episodes, each approximately 44 to 48 minutes in length.

"The Dinosaurs" serves as a follow-up to the documentary "Life on Our Planet" and continues its focus on presenting scientific research in a format accessible to a general audience.

Episodes are structured to show the development of dinosaur species across different geological periods, highlighting how environmental factors influenced their evolution and survival.

Critics gave it a 100% score, while audiences praised it as “visually engaging with excellent CGI” and “informative,” giving it a 72% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series has also received recognition on IMDb, where it holds a 7.6/10 rating.

As of now, "The Dinosaurs" ranks among the top three TV shows on Netflix in the Philippines, sitting at number three, behind "Boyfriend in Demand" at number two and "Girl From Nowhere" at number one.
