Sophia Laforteza to skip KATSEYE's UK, European legs of 'WILDWORLD’ Tour

KATSEYE leader Sophia Laforteza will not be joining the group for the European and UK dates of their upcoming “WILDWORLD TOUR” as she continues her health hiatus and focuses on her mental and overall well-being.

“Sophia is focusing on her well-being, and the company remains fully committed to providing her with all the support and resources needed. Sophia will not be participating in THE WILDWORLD TOUR in Europe and the UK scheduled from September 1 through September 17,” the label said.

“We sincerely ask for EYEKONS’ warm understanding, as our highest priority will always be the health and long-term well-being of our artists. We will share further updates as they become available. Please continue to send your love, warmth, and support to Sophia and KATSEYE,” the label added.

Following the announcement, the Filipina singer shared a heartfelt message with fans in an Instagram Story on Monday.

“I can’t express enough how much I want to participate in this tour and perform for you all. I have to remind myself every day that our health and mental well-being should always be prioritized,” she wrote.

The 23-year-old also revealed that she has been undergoing treatment as she works toward getting better.

“When I show up for you, I want you to get the best version of me. I’ve been in ongoing treatment and doing everything I can to stay healthy, occupied, and happy. You can’t pour from an empty cup. It’s important to care for yourself,” she said.

Sophia went on to thank her company, fellow KATSEYE members and the people around her for their support as she focuses on her recovery.

“There’s been nothing but love and support from the company, my members, and everyone else around me as I work to get well. I can’t wait until I return and share the stage with my sisters again. They’re gonna put on an extraordinary performance for you, EYEKONS. Trust me, I’ve been watching, and they’re absolutely giving!” Sophia shared.

She ended her message by telling fans, “See you soon, EYEKONS. I love you all so much. Thank you for understanding.”

Sophia’s hiatus from KATSEYE was first announced by HYBE x Geffen on August 7. At the time, the label said she would temporarily step away from promotional activities so she could prioritize her mental health and wellness.

More recently, Sophia’s mother, theater actress Carla Guevara-Laforteza, gave fans a glimpse into how her daughter has been spending her time away from the group. She said Sophia has been keeping herself occupied with more relaxed activities while taking care of her well-being and working on her mental health, including going to Disneyland every day.

Meanwhile, Lara, Daniela, Yoonchae and Megan have been keeping busy with KATSEYE’s latest music and other group activities.

The four recently made a brief appearance at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival on August 29. Manon Bannerman has also been away from the group’s activities since February.
