Sarah Geronimo reunites with parents on her 38th birthday

Years after reports of a rift, Sarah Geronimo reunited with her parents, Delfin and Divine Geronimo, on her 38th birthday. A heartfelt father-daughter duet highlighted the event.

On Saturday, July 25, Sarah surprised fans by posting a special duet with her father. She also shared a separate behind-the-scenes video from their recording session. She described the collaboration as one of the most meaningful birthday gifts she could give herself.

“This is a gift to myself, to everyone and my father. To celebrate him and our love for music,” Sarah wrote.

Sarah and Delfin recorded a cover of Jose Mari Chan's ballad "Refrain," which is now available on Sarah's official YouTube channel.

The recording session became even more heartwarming with the presence of Sarah's mother, Divine. One of the clips captured a sweet moment between the two as Divine warmly hugged Sarah and kissed her.

Delfin admitted that singing with his daughter gave him the confidence to perform again. “Sobrang proud ako sa anak ko kasi siguro, sa kaniya lang ako nakakakuha ng lakas ng loob," he shared.

Backed by professional musicians, Delfin did his best to keep his emotions in check during their father-daughter performance.

"Sobrang saya ko tsaka masyado akong na-touch sa mga kanta. Habang kumakanta kami, para akong maiiyak eh,” he said.

For Sarah, performing alongside her father was the fulfillment of a longtime dream. "Sobra akong masayang-masaya dahil I got to do this with the dearest person in my life, syempre ang tatay at nanay ko. Kasama ko ang tatay ko ngayon, sharing beautiful music," she shared.

Delfin said the project also fulfilled his own dream of singing timeless songs once again with his daughter. Although he insisted he was not a professional singer and admitted feeling nervous, Sarah praised her father's musical talent and proudly cheered him on after their performance.

“Magaling, Daddy. Mahusay, mahusay, Daddy. Congrats, Daddy.”

"Salamat. Walang bola iyan?" Delfin asked Sarah. "Wala, wala," Sarah replied.

In a separate post, Sarah shared behind-the-scenes photos with her father and wrote, “Behind the scenes with my daddy Delfin gwapo, during our ‘Refrain’ live.”

Meanwhile, Sarah's husband, actor-host Matteo Guidicelli, also celebrated her birthday with a heartfelt Instagram greeting. Sharing photos of Sarah with their family, Matteo expressed his love for his wife while hinting that even more milestones are in store for her this year, writing that it "will be the best year ever."

Sarah's fans and fellow celebrities were touched by the family reunion, with many expressing their happiness at seeing Sarah reunited with her parents.

Singer Gary Valenciano commented, "I love this Sarah... i so so love seeing this!!"

Television and radio host Amy Perez greeted Sarah on her birthday and added, "God bless your good heart."

The family reunion led many fans to believe Sarah had mended fences with her parents after reports that tensions arose when she married Matteo in 2020 despite her parents' objections.

While the reconciliation may have taken place earlier, this was the first public appearance showing Sarah with both of her parents, especially her mother.

Last April, Sarah and her father were spotted together at an event in one of their first public appearances in years. In June, she shared photos from Father's Day, showing the two of them shopping together and walking their dog.
