Robin Padilla’s ‘Unexpectedly Yours’ post raises eyebrows amid Joshua Garcia controversy

Robin Padilla's throwback clip from the 2017 film “Unexpectedly Yours,” which starred Padilla and Joshua Garcia has sent netizens buzzing. Padilla's post comes after  Garcia reposted Tiktok videos apparently supporting Vice President Sara Duterte.

The actor-politician uploaded the movie scene on Facebook with the caption, “Unexpectedly yours!,”a nod to the film's title. Padilla, 56, did not provide an explanation for the post nor mention Garcia, but its timing quickly drew reactions on social media.

The upload came as Garcia drew criticism after he reposted TikTok videos which appear to express support for Vice President Duterte, as well as screenshots showing that the actor had been following her on Instagram. 

Despite the speculation, the 28-year-old has not publicly addressed the issue nor confirmed the political assumptions made by social media users.

The online discussion intensified after netizens noticed that Garcia no longer followed Vice President Duterte on Instagram after the backlash. His TikTok reposts likewise are no longer visible on his Instagram account.

Padilla's throwback post quickly generated mixed reactions across social media. Some fans criticized the post, pointing out that support for the Dutertes is at odds with the history of the network where both Padilla and Garcia have worked, particularly following the network's shutdown. Others meanwhile viewed the post as an apparent show of support for Joshua amid the controversy. 

The post remained visible on Padilla's Facebook page as discussions among netizens continued.
